Simeon was my special little step-brother. A cheeky grin and ash-blonde hair is what I see when I close my eyes and think of him. Simeon and his friend Ben Cosgrove were cruelly taken from us in a car accident (accident seems the wrong word), sitting in the back of a car driven by an unrepentant idiot! I miss him every day and am still waiting for him to text me to say hi again. I know he will be with us all, laughing at our mistakes and cheering us on through bad times. Miss you Sim. xxxxxxxxxx

Happy Birthday In Heaven - by Winnie Lovett

"Happy Birthday Simeon"
It's sure to be the best one yet,
Though you left us here behind.
Did you think that we'd forget?

Your cake this year, will surely be,
A beauty to behold.
With the icing made of Silver,
And the candles made of Gold.

Yes, your birthday in Heaven,
Will be such a grand affair.
And I know you'll look so lovely,
With a halo in your hair.

The Angels will come from everywhere,
To sing your birthday song.
And I know they'll be so happy,
That you've joined, God's Happy Throng.

No I can't send a card this year,
Or give a gift so fine.
So I'll just send a special prayer,
To that wonderful Brother of yours.

THIS WAS SENT TO ME AND I THOUGHT OF YOU XX

A Pair of Shoes"

I am wearing a pair of shoes. They are ugly shoes. Uncomfortable shoes. I hate
my shoes. Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair. Some
days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.

Yet, I continue to wear them. I get funny looks wearing these shoes. They are
looks of sympathy. I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my
shoes and not theirs. They never talk about my shoes.

To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.

To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.

But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.

I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes. There are many pairs in this world.

Some women are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them.

Some have learned how to walk in them so they don't hurt quite as much.

Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt.

No woman deserves to wear these shoes.

Yet, because of these shoes I am a stronger woman.

These shoes have given me the strength to face anything.

They have made me who I am.

I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.

"Angel"
Tear drops, slow and steady,
The pain so real and true,
God took another angel,
And that angel, dear, was you.

Angel wings, upon the clouds,
Your body softly sleeps,
Hush now little angel,
No more tears you have to weep.

Little prayers,are sent to you,
The short life you led;
Your family will never forget you,
So rest your little head.

I know God will look after you,
Now you are truly alive,
Your spirit soars beyond the moon,
Your legacy will survive.

You’re beautiful, you’re endless,
Now stretch your wings and fly,
Your loved by so many,
It will never be goodbye.

Close your pretty eyes,
No more tears, just go and rest,
Let your soul lie peacefully,
we know you did your best.

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

To your cheeky grin and sheepish smile, to the shrug of your shoulders (when you babysat and let kids watch 'Candyman') the scrapes you got in, the bike rides to mine when you needed advice on how to get through scrapes you had got into, I miss them all more than you will ever know. Gos obviously needed cheering up and keeping on his toes, cos he picked a bright ray of sunshine in you. xxx
